Caving at Barra Honda National Park- One Day trip from Samara Beach
One day trip from Samara to see the amazing caves at Barra Honda National Park. There are more than 40 limestone caverns in the Park with stalactites, stalagmites and other calcareous formations. The caves were formed as water cut through the limestone rocks in the small mountains of the park . Barra Honda National Park also has well maintained hiking trails and the protected tropical dry forest within its borders is very different from the rain and cloud forests in other parts of Costa Rica.
The caves are all in relatively good condition. However climbing gear is provided to help with some of the vertical entrances that are moer difficult to negotiate and 60m ladders are used.
