The local village of Santa Elena (6km from the Monteverde Reserve) is the main hub of activity in terms of commerce and transport (do not confuse Santa Elena village with the Santa Elena Cloud Forest which is about 7km from Santa Elena village). Hotels, cabins, bed & breakfasts, lodges and pensions that are located in Santa Elena village tend to be are less expensive.
