Ride the back roads of Monteverde, visit the San Luis valley
and it's waterfall.
Then ride from Monteverde to Arenal on our 'Lake Trail'.
Our trip starts in Monteverde and finishes in La Fortuna the nearest town to the volcano. This package does not include transportation to Monteverde or onward from La Fortuna. We can easily arrange such transportation for those interested or you can make you own way to Monteverde and then on to the beach or someplace after the trip stops in La Fortuna.

Nidia Lodge in Monteverde (or similar depending on availability). All transportation is included from the time the tour begins in Monteverde, until the time it stops in the town of La Fortuna, to and from all of the horse tours listed below:
Day 1
Local Horse Tour: About 3.5 hours riding

Day 2 Ride to the San Luis Water fall. About 4 hours riding and 40 minuets walk from the horses to the waterfall.

It is also possible to add another night in Monteverde and to include a guided visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. We are flexible and able to meet your needs and schedule.
Day 1
Our trip starts in Monteverde. The mountain paradise settled in by Quakers some fifty years ago. When you are ready to start riding (no later than 3:00 pm) we will meet at our offices in Santa Elena to begin a gentle ride of about 3 hours. The ride will be along little used back roads. passing by farms of coffee, sugar cane and bananas. You will see wonderful views of the pacific coast and forests. An experienced 'Tico' horseman will lead our ride on well-trained and well cared for horses. After that we will drop you off at your hotel where you will have the remainder of the day for any

Day 2
Morning: Ride to the San Luis
Waterfall. The San Luis Valley is an area that most tourists miss through lack of time. We made sure it was included in this tour! You will meander your way down from Monteverde to the San Luis valley, through rolling hills covered by lush coffee plantations with spectacular views of the Pacific and the cloud forests. After the initial two-hour ride we will leave our horses and walk for 40 minutes along the river. We'll stop for a fruit break at the breathtaking 100 meter San Luis Waterfall. Those who dare will have a chance to swim or dive in the chilly waters.
Day 3
Morning: Ride to La Fortuna. An alternative way to travel to see the Arenal Volcano! This is one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world! We travel along Arenal Lake from the Rio Chiquito to the Cano Negro River (near El Castillo). We follow a beautiful lakeside route with good safe trails in ALL weather, many tropical birds and views of the volcano, scenic jungle parts. Ride is suitable for all level of riders. This wonderful journey includes a
boat ride across the Arenal Lake and a fruit break and water. Approximately 5 1/2 hours (3 hours on horse).
You will arrive at around 1.30pm. In the evening there are optional
Volcano
Hikes and Hot Springs.
Note: We can help you reserve your accommodation in Arenal and/or onwards transport to San Jose or the beaches.
Details: Minimum 2 people (Double occupancy): $230 per person
Included on Trip: 2 night's accommodation and breakfast (2 nights in Monteverde) all transport to horse tours and all horse tours in the itinerary.
Not Included: Flights to Costa Rica, accommodation in San Jose, meals (except breakfast), optional tours or transportation to other tours.
What to Bring: T-shirts, shorts, long pants for riding, sweater or light jacket, sandals, light hiking boots, rain jacket, sun screen, insect repellant, any personal medication, riding hat if you want one (they are not compulsory in Costa Rica), traveler's insurance (to include white-water rafting and horse riding), full passport (a driving license is not sufficient), traveler's cheques and a credit card (VISA, other cards are difficult to use in Monteverde).
