Hotel Montana Monteverde was the first high-end hotel opened in Montverde. Built in 1978 by a Quaker couple from New York, the hotel created quite a stir when it became the first to offer alcohol in this remote Quaker village. Since then, the hotel has changed owners and undergone several facelifts and expansions. The hotel is popular with tour groups as well as individuals and the renewal of these group contracts is evidence that the hotel is maintaining its excellent customer service.
Guests will certainly enjoy the rooms at the Hotel Montana. The more upscale rooms have large Jacuzzi style bathtubs, balconies with breathtaking views and a small bottle of red wine to welcome you. Other amenities include mini bars, hairdryers and televisions.
The property is large (15 hectares) and includes hiking trails, gardens and a small lake. The spa and Jacuzzi are a nice place to relax after a long day of hiking, horseback riding or even just to recuperate after the bumpy ride up the mountain.
Construction finished on the most recent building, that houses of the deluxe rooms, in December of 2003. As of Oct. 2005 they are still constructing a large new reception / restaurant / conference center. Prices vary between standard, superior and deluxe rooms, which vary from cabin style to ultra modern.
The existing main building includes a restaurant, bar and reading room with large windows to enjoy the view. If it is a clear day this is a good place to watch the sunset. Food
served in their restaurant is actually quite good.
