Hotel Fonda Vela Monteverde Costa Rica .....it is the small touches that set the Fonda Vela Hotel apart from the other high-end hotels in Monteverde. Comfortable, peaceful, lots of amenities and helpful staff all make the Hotel Fonda Vela a great choice to stay at if you are looking for a quality hotel near the Monteverde Cloud Forest. And now, Fonda Vela has introduced a brand new pool and two Jacuzzis!

   The owners founded the Fonda Vela in 1987 as a small bed and breakfast, popular because it of its close proximity to the Monteverde Reserve (just over 1 km) and because of the original artworks hanging in many of the common rooms.The hotel has since grown to include 42 rooms, but each room seems to be decorated with as much attention to detail. The owner's father, Paul Smith Sr., is a respected painter in the community and the hotel is used as a vehicle to display his artwork, especially impressive are the walkways between rooms that have plants, paintings and artistic tiled mosaics.

The rooms at Hotel Fonda Vela have comfortable furniture and a beautifu view of the well-maintained 14-hectare (35-acre) grounds. The property includes a trail, which is approximately a half hour hike to complete. The hotel also has two restaurants, a bar and a conference room a large swimming pool and two Jacuzzis/

There are two main types of rooms: standard and junior suites: Most rooms include a phone, television with cable TV, a mini bar, both queen and king beds, refrigerator, large bathtub, coffeemaker and hairdryer.

  Hotel Fonda Vela's popular restaurant called The Gallery also has original artwork, including an interesting statue of the painter playing the cello that presides over the festivities. The restaurant has large windows overlooking the gardens, a favorite with the hummingbirds, and beyond, on a clear day, the Gulf of Nicoya.

   The Fonda Vela fills up quickly so reservations should be made up to a year in advance depending on the time of your visit. This is a great place to stay on your honeymoon.
