The Hotel Finca Valverde is a little piece of the rainforest hidden in the heart of Santa Elena. This hotel and restaurant are located steps from the lively (and some times noisy), Taberna Valverde. Also located a stone throw from the Serpentarium (snake museum).
This former coffee and banana plantation has been almost completely reforested. It is wild enough that you can see many species of Monteverde bird life, including blue-crowned Mot-Mot's, Hummingbirds, Baltimore Orioles and Emerald Toucanettes. The lush setting provides the jungle feel without putting a great distance from you and all the conveniences (?) and services of Santa Elena.
Their reception is located in an interesting building of Monteverde. The office is set upon a small stream, with two short suspension bridges above the beautiful streambed connecting one of the main buildings of rooms to the reception building, which also houses the restaurant.
Rooms here are comfortable and have a natural feel; wooden cabins and quilted bedspreads create a peaceful, cozy atmosphere. Rooms have all the comforts of a high-end hotel for a reasonable price, including bathrooms with large bathtubs. Rooms also have porches overlooking the forest. The hotel also boasts a small private trail system.
Several types of rooms are available:
Standard Rooms have one queen-sized bed, bathrooms with hot water, in-room telephones and fans.
Cabinas are nicer with one queen bed and one loft bed, televisions, in room phones, bathrooms with hot water and hairdryers.
Junior Suites have sleeping room for six or seven people. One king bed, double loft bed and two futons conceivably large enough to sleep two people each. These rooms also have televisions, in room phones, bathrooms with hot water and hairdryers.
It should be noted that both Cabins and Junior Suites are up a very short, but steep hike from the parking entrance.
