Cabalgata San Rafael Feb 2006
Everyone living in Costa Rica should join in at least one Cabalgata in their life-time. There is no experience like riding with hundreds of people on their
favorite horses (or just borrowed horses for the day), cheered on by local villagers. Many people get dressed up in their
favorite cowboy shirts and hats, with their horses extra brushed and shining to look their best for the day.
Cabalgatas are a great way to join in the community spirit of the local villages surrounding the Monteverde areas (and other areas in Costa Rica). They often raise much needed funds for local schools and other community needs.
The cabalgata in San Rafael was everything a cabalgata should be: a wonderful ride through beautiful countryside, dancing, riding exhibitions, raffles and of course, lots and lots of horses. See the photos of a very special day.

To all at Desafio:
Thank you very much for all your work in making various arrangements for
guide and travel in Costa Rica. We enjoyed the long taxi trips as much as
we enjoyed specific events. Maria, as our guide in Monteverde, was
outstanding. She is very knowledgable and her sense of humor had both Dick
and I chuckling. She very nicely handled my husband, Dick, the avid birder
and myself, who is more of a general biologist, by making sure we both got
information of interest.
Thanks again,
Rikki Schroeder
